Toyota Hilux is well-known name in automobile industry and it has gained its reputation since 1968 when this model was introduced. On the performance front, the new 2016 Toyota Hilux will be available with four engine versions including two turbodiesel and two petrol units. All-new engine in lineup is a 2.8 liter turbo diesel with four cylinders which replaces large 3.0 liter diesel unit from outgoing model. All engines as this one can be paired with two transmissions including a six-speed manual gear box and also available six-speed automatic.  A manual shifter features the first on truck used rev matching system. When paired with manual transmission mentioned turbo diesel engine delivers 174 horsepower at 3,400 rpm and peak torque of 331 pound-feet between 1,600 to 3,400 rpm. Suspension, Chassis

Aside from improved engines new model has experienced more enactments on its mechanics including some suspension and steering improvements and also chassis strengthening. Interior side comes in new modernized form and better equipped. The sound isolation is much improved and cabin in much more passenger friendly. Dashboard features thin shape and it carries three-spoke mufti-functional steering wheel, touchscreen on all models and bellow are ergonomic HVAC controls. Four-wheel drive models also include electronic rotary switch inside. A lot of bright work is present on dash, door panels and center console and contrasting stitching on the seats make ambient upscale. Materials depend on chosen version and Workmates versions have basic cloth with vinyl floors, while SR5+ models are finished with leather upholstery, carpets and other up-scale features.

Body styles, Equipment

2016 Toyota Hilux comes in several body styles and available are Single Cab, Extra Cab and Double Cab and also as Cab on chassis model. Cab on chassis allows you to pick type of rear tray. Single Cab has room for two while Extended Cab models add rear hinged rear doors adding two seats for passengers. Double Cab configuration uses conventional rear doors and seats five people. Extended Cab model rear seats are only suitable for short drives and Double Cab provides more space for two adults or three children.

Leather upholstery, power adjustable functionality for driver’s seat is available on SR5+ models.  Toyota safety Sense suite also adds lane departure warning, road sign assist and emergency braking.

2016 Toyota Hilux: Conclusion, Cost

The all-new 2016 Toyota Hilux is much improved and more refined model than any Hilux was before. It is available in many configurations and hits class’ top 3,500 kg towing capacity. It is certainly among top models in its class. The price of this model covers range from around $22,000 to $58,000 for top model versions.
