Among the best one-tone utes in many markets around the world except US you can again count on German’s quality in great VW Amarok. This model brings to you the only class-available V-6 turbo diesel which outpowers all rivals which currently use engines with fewer cylinders. Aside from that with this truck you also get good ride quality followed with class leading towing capacity and car-like interior. It is also loaded with many convenience and tech features but lacks some safety kit that is available as standard in some rival models. The 2018 VW Amarok might fix this.
The facelifted 2017 Amarok responds on many updated rivals like Mitsubsihi L200, Nissan Navara and Ford Ranger with upgrades on all fronts. Surprisingly it traversed to V-6 turbo diesel units form four-cylinder engines that meet Euro6 regulations. Improvements are also on braking system, towing, styling and interior. What remains for the 2018 version is to expand safety kit and this model might bring currently missing rear seat airbags and more advanced safety features. It might also bring more standard features and new colors.
2018 VW Amarok: Exterior
When it comes to styling the new 2018 VW Amarok will continue with same theme like the current refreshed version. Some cosmetic changes are possible but there won’t be serious modifications.
The grille for the current model has been refreshed with more chrome and reshaped front and rear bumpers also add to its look. There are also new restyled wheels and modernized headlights. All these elements will be carried over to new model year with addition of new body color options and new wheel designs.
As the things now stand, the 2018 Amarok might only be available in crew cab style while we will have chance to choose different wheel sizes ranging from 17- to 20-inches.
Interior of this model has also been heavily reworked for the actual version and there won’t be big changes either. New textures and more standard features might be offered.
Interior is fresh and feels more car-like. Dash has also been refreshed and now includes reshaped air vents. Instrument panel and infotainment system are also new for refreshed model. There will be smartphone integration, DAB digital radio and digital voice features, etc.
The passengers will also benefit from the ergoComfort seats. The front passenger will be able to adjust seats in 14-ways and seats’ covers will include Nappa leather inserts. There will also be option for heating functionality.
2018 VW Amarok: Class-leading power and torque
Under the hood of 2018 VW Amarok will be a 3.0 liter V-6 turbo diesel which will be available in three states of tuning. This engine meets Euro6 standards and the base version will deliver 163 hp and peak torque of 450 Nm. The second level version will be capable for 204 hp and torque of 500Nm while top-spec engine will offer 224 hp and peak twisting moment of 550 Nm.
The model will be available with eight-speed automatic transmission that includes paddle-shifters. It will also use four-wheel disk brakes and Servotronic steering system with variable-ratio.
The base rear-wheel drive system will be followed with selectable four-wheel drive and also available permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive. The pulling power limit will be around 3.5 tonnes.
2018 VW Amarok: Arrival, Price
The 2018 VW Amarok is expected to go on sale in the last quarter of 2017 and base version should cost around 26, 000 euros in Europe.
