With many redesigned and refreshed pickups in compact truck class Mitsubishi had to offer seriously reworked L200 model in order to stay close with main rivals like VW Amarok and Ford Ranger. The result is the fifth generation Mitsubishi L200 which has been on sale as 2016 model. That brings the new 2017 Mitsubishi L200 on market only a year after this redesign and it will not have much new to offer.
What is better?
The arrival of the current generation L200 has made this model much refined and all aspects has experienced important improvements. In terms of safety the L200 is also good candidate. It will offer seven airbags, active traction and stability control, hill start assist, trailer sway control, braking assist, but also rear view camera, lane departure warning, etc.
2017 Mitsubishi L200: Efficient and Capable
The last year new turbodiesel engine will power upcoming 2017 Mitsuishi L200. This lightweight aluminum unit with 2.4 liter of capacity and four-cylinders can produce 176 hp at 3, 500 rpm and torque of 430 Nm at just 2, 500 rpm. The available transmissions will be reworked six-speed manual and five-gear automatic. The models will also come with four-wheel drive system and models will also benefit from Mitsubishi’s super select four-wheel drive system.
The L200 promises impressive fuel economy with 42.8 mpg combined in some versions. Considering unchanged mechanical hardware the model should stay close to the current payload and towing limits with 1, 050 kg of max payload and 3, 100 kg of max towing.
