Chevrolet already offers its Silverado models in the wide range of body styles and trim options but if you want your truck to stand out from the crowd you can also choose between several special edition versions. Depending on your personality you can pick the Redline, Midnight, High Desert, Rally and another special edition option. However, before Chevy offers updated Silverado 1500 for the 2019 model year, the 2018 Chevy Silverado SS is rumored to bring more excitement to the lineup.
This wouldn’t actually be something new in Chevy’s lineup as brand offered the SS trim almost for all models in the period from early to mid-2000s. The SS stands for the SuperSport and that should bring more aggressive exterior and unique interior combined with sportier suspension and driving feel.
2018 Chevy Silverado SS: Exterior design
From the outer perspective, the 2018 Chevy Silverado SS should exhibit sportier and more aggressive appearance. The base design will be like on the other versions but with sport-oriented enhancements and lower suspension, this model will look cool on the road.
The model should get body-colored bumpers with more aggressive design than on the conventional versions. Unique 20-inch wheels combined with the low-profile tires and lower suspension will also add sportier stance to this model. This special trim is expected to be available on the Double Cab and Crew Cab models.
Inside the cabin should also prevail unique accents combined with sports bucket seats. Unique finish on the dash, door panels and sports steering wheel will also be in accordance with model’s sports character. However, it should also include the latest tech and safety features to keep passengers connected and safe.
2018 Chevy Silverado SS: Powertrain
Under the hood of the 2018 Chevy Silverado SS should sit a 6.2-liter V-8 engine. Chevy might drain a bit more power from this engine which can now produce 420 hp and torque of 460 pound-feet. The transmission system will be the familiar automatic unit and all-wheel drive should be standard on this version.
What is also important, under its muscular body, the Silverado SS should get a sporty suspension upgrade. The model should sit lower to the ground while enchantments done to the suspension should provide better-planted feel while driving. With that Chevy will also tune the steering response for the sportier driving experience.
The company hasn’t commented on the rumors about the 2018 Chevy Silverado SS. Based on the industry speculations, this version should follow the standard 2018 variants sometime throughout the model year. As for the price, it should climb on the $50k-level.
