Chevrolet still hides details about the 2019 Colorado and we don’t know would the upcoming model year bring the mid-cycle refresh. However, it has been reported that Colorado could add new off-road focused version which should be even more capable than the current ZR2 version. Aside from the Z71 variant, with the “basic” off-road capability, Chevy introduced the ZR2-badged version with significant off-road upgrades. This off-road runner arrived for the 2017 model year and Chevy could soon introduce even more capable ZR2 version.
Recent reports suggest that the brand trademarked the ZR2 Bison nameplate and it could arrive as another version of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. It would get the Bison suffix combined with unique styling elements and off-road enactments. The new version will be heavily influenced by the Colorado ZR2 AEV concept that was presented at the 2017 Shema Show with the aftermarket upgrades.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2: Design
The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will take more aggressive approach regarding the looks and all will be done to enhance its off-capability. This version improves the stability with the 90 mm wider track and also has elevated riding height for better approach and departure angles. The grille and bodywork are also unique on this model as well as the 17-inch wheels with 31-inch all-terrain tires.
On the other hand, the Bison version should look almost identical to what saw on the mentioned concept version. The production version should, however, lose the bed rack, snorkel and rear fender access panel. It should continue to the production with the unique grille and bumpers plus larger and protected fenders, special wheels, etc.
Inside the cabin, the ZR2 version will keep you connected with the 4G LTE WiFi and MyLink infotainment system. The 8-inch screen will display and handle important details and functionalities and the system will provide the Android Auto and Apple Car Play compatibility.
There will also be supportive seats with contrasting stitching and ZR2 logos. The model will also have unique interior trim pieces and will offer important safety gear.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2: Powertrains
Chevy will offer the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 with the turbodiesel and V-6 engines. A 3.6-liter V-6 petrol makes 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder provides 181 hp and torque of 369 lb-ft. The eight- or six-gear automatic transmissions will be available.
The ZR2 will also employ the hardcore chassis and Multimatic shocks. The locking differentials also improve model’s capability while the skid plates and elevated suspension also upgrade the hardware protection.
The ZR2 Bison will boast even greater off-road capability. Chevrolet Performance-tuned suspension with specially calibrated Multimatic dampers should provide a new level of off-roading. The model will also get other drivetrain components upgraded.
2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2: Price
The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 should appear by the end of the year. The ZR2 should keep the price around low-$40,000 while the Bison model should cost around $45k.
