The heart of the 2019 GMC Canyon Diesel remains the reliable, capable and efficient Duramax turbodiesel engine. A 2.8-liter four-cylinder unit provides 181 horsepower. The peak torque of 369 lb-ft is available from 2, 000 rpm. The engine is mated to the six-speed automatic transmission and buyers can choose between the two and four-wheel drive. The All Terrain package improves the off-road capability with beefed up suspension, skid plates, rugged all-terrain tires, drive modes, improved transfer case, etc.
When it comes to the loading and towing capability, the max load capacity is between 1, 389 and 1, 499 pounds depending on the configuration. The towing also varies between 7, 550 and 7, 700 pounds.
