2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra – New Generations
The 2019 model year will also bring the new generation of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. These mechanical twins were all-new for the 2014 model year and in order to respond on recently refreshed F-150 and slower sales, GM will offer new generation versions.
However, based on what we know so far, the models won’t be fully redesigned rather extensively updated. It’s still not clear would new models use aluminum in their construction like the F-150. Some reports suggest that models will stick with steel structure but will get new chassis and updated suspension.
Styling wise, changes will also be revolutionary. The Silverado will get a new front bumper and new headlights with attractive LED accents. The profile of the Silverado will also be slightly reshaped judging by the spy photos. The new version should adopt the less squared-off shape of the fender flares. The Sierra model should follow with the similar changes.
As for the mechanics, we still don’t know what GM is preparing. The overall impression is that GM will offer updated versions of the current V-6 and V-8 engines. The 10-speed automatic transmission is expected in the combination.
The new-gen Silverado should appear at the next Detroit Auto Show. The GMC Sierra is expected to arrive shortly after. The price should stay close to the current range.
