The top-tier 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country comes with three powertrain solutions.

The model is equipped with the 5.3-liter EcoTec V-8 by default. The engine exploits Dynamic Fuel management technology and comes in pair with the 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine delivers 355 hp and torque of 383 lb-ft. This combination should return 16 mpg city and 22 highways.

Switching to the optional 6.2-liter EcoTec V-8 engine brings the power and torque to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft respectively. This engine is also linked to the 10-speed automatic transmission. With this engine under the hood, the fuel economy drops to 16 mpg city and 20 highways.

Buyers seeking better fuel economy can opt for the newly introduced 3.0-liter Duramax inline-6 turbodiesel engine. The inline-6 should operate smoother and more balanced than the V-6 units in the rival models while delivering the same level of power. The Duramax-branded turbodiesel mill makes 277 hp and torque of 460 lb-ft. The fuel economy is up to 33 mpg highways with the rear-wheel drive. However, the diesel-powered High Country model is available with the four-wheel drive only which should deliver 23 mpg city and 29 highways.

The premium High Country version can also be equipped with the Z71 package which adds off-road-tuned Rancho shocks, skid plates, knobby tires, etc. for better off-road prowess.
