The heavy-duty pickup trucks have become more capable and sophisticated than ever. A recently all-new, one-ton Ram 3500 boasts some class-leading features and it is available in dozens of configurations. 2021 Ram 3500: Design
The 2021 Ram 3500 will continue to live on the recent upgrades and there won’t be any significant structural or visual change. Buyers will have the new wheel and color options at disposal.
The newest, fifth-generation Ram 3500 uses modern underpinning integrating a higher percentage of high-tensile steel and aluminum. The latest version uses also upgraded bushings and mounts for better ride quality. The overall result is a lower weight but improved towing and payload capability.
From the visual perspective, the truck gets attention with a massive grille that features a specific design for almost every trim. The model uses also specific bumpers finish and trim inserts for each trim. The base version gets blacked-out grille and bumpers while upper grades use chrome bumpers mixed with chrome-trimmed grilles.
The truck returns in three cab styles and with two cargo bed options. The regular, two-door cab version is available with the long bed only. The four-door cabs can be had with both short and long cargo beds.
The cabin of the next Ram 3500 won’t also get any significant upgrade. The one-ton Ram has one of the most comfortable and best-equipped cabins. The truck can be had with premium materials and modern tech and safety systems.
The dash of the model gets various treatments including leather and wood grains surfaces. The model has also logically arranged and easy to use controls. There is also a responsive and intuitive Uconnect infotainment system available with a large 12.0-inch touchscreen.
The truck uses also well-padded seats that can be heated and ventilated.
The one-ton Ram 3500 offers a broad range of customization and equipment-level options.
The base truck version uses 18-inch wheels, a locking tailgate, vinyl upholstery, a 5-inch touchscreen, etc. Every version can be had with lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking.
The next Big Horn version switches to the cloth upholstery and gets also chrome exterior accents, remote locking and ignition, carpet floors, etc.
The mid-range version adds an 8.4-inch touchscreen interface, leather upholstery, parking sensors, heated front seats, HD and satellite radio and more.
The two top trims get upgraded leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, attractive wood and chrome accents, specific leather tones, etc.
There will also be additional options at disposals such as a 12.0-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, a surround-view camera system, a load-leveling suspension and much more.
2021 Ram 3500: Powertrains, Towing
The 2021 Ram 3500 will go on sale with the same petrol and diesel engine options as the current version.
The base power in all versions provides a 6.4-liter V-8 petrol engine good for 410 hp and torque of 429 lb-ft. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Buyers can opt for the Cummins turbodiesel engine when greater towing capability is needed. The one-ton Ram 3500 will be available with two inline-6 turbodiesel options. A 6.7-liter Cummins inline-6 makes 370 hp and torque of 850 lb-ft in one version. The optional, high-output version makes 400 hp and 1000 lb-ft of torque. The Cummins diesel engine is in the mix with the six-speed automatic transmission.
The one-ton Ram 3500 can pull up to 35, 100 pounds when properly equipped. The cargo bed limit is 7680 pounds.
2021 Ram 3500: Release, Price
The upcoming 2021 Ram 3500 should reach dealers in the last quarter of the year. The heavy-duty, one-ton Ram truck should cost from about $36, 000.
